Wooden Cheese Board — Sourcing FAQ

Sourcing cheese boards and charcuterie platters for retail, gifting and hospitality.

Q1What size is most popular for retail cheese boards?
Two sizes cover roughly 80% of retail demand: a single-serving 25×15 cm board (around 10×6 inches) for gift sets and small charcuterie, and a 40×30 cm board (around 16×12 inches) for dinner-party retail. Larger 50–60 cm presentation boards are sold mostly into hospitality.
Q2Which woods are food-safe for cheese boards?
Acacia, walnut, beech, bamboo, teak and oak are all food-safe when finished with FDA / LFGB-compliant food-grade oil or mineral oil. Acacia is the most popular for premium retail because of its rich grain; bamboo wins on price and eco positioning.
Q3Can you include a matching knife or cheese-tool set?
Yes — stainless steel knife sets, slide-out cutlery drawers, ceramic spreaders and slate insert plates are all available as bundled OEM. We coordinate the hardware supplier and pack everything as a complete retail-ready set.
Q4Do you offer juice-groove cheese boards?
Yes. Juice grooves are routed around the perimeter to catch liquids — popular on cutting-board-style cheese boards for hard cheeses and meats. Depth and groove width are customisable; we recommend 5 mm deep × 8 mm wide as a standard.
Q5What's the right finish for daily-use cheese boards?
Food-grade mineral oil or beeswax — easy to re-apply at home, no chemical residue, and brings out the grain. Avoid heavy lacquer for daily cutting use, as it can chip under knife pressure; lacquer is fine for display-only charcuterie pieces.
